About the Author
Viet Thanh Nguyen is a Vietnamese-American author, essayist, and professor. He was born in Vietnam in 1971, and he came to the United States as a refugee in 1975. Nguyen earned a PhD in English from the University of California, Berkeley, and he is currently a professor of English and American Studies at the University of Southern California.
Nguyen is the author of several books, including the novels The Sympathizer (2015) and The Refugees (2017). He has also written a memoir, Nothing Ever Dies: Vietnam and the Memory of War (2016),and a collection of essays, Race and Resistance: Literature and Politics in Asian America (2002).
