Bobby Keys was a saxophonist who played with some of the biggest names in rock 'n' roll, including the Rolling Stones, John Lennon, and Joe Cocker. His solos are instantly recognizable on classic tracks like "Brown Sugar" and "Let It Be." Keys' life was a wild ride of music, drugs, and excess, and he died tragically in 2014 at the age of 70.

Keys was born in Slaton, Texas, in 1943. His father was a sharecropper, and his mother was a waitress. Keys began playing the saxophone at the age of 10. He played with the Sneeds, a local band, in the 1950s and 1960s. In 1964, Keys moved to Los Angeles, where he met and began playing with Leon Russell.

In 1969, Keys played on John Lennon's album "Imagine." He also played on Joe Cocker's album "Mad Dogs & Englishmen" that same year. In 1970, Keys joined the Rolling Stones on their Sticky Fingers tour. He played with the Stones for the next 10 years, and he can be heard on classic albums like "Exile on Main St." and "Some Girls."

Keys had a long history of drug and alcohol abuse. He was arrested for possession of cocaine in 1975. In 1980, he was arrested for drunk driving. In 1983, he was arrested for possession of heroin. Keys checked into rehab several times, but he never fully overcame his addiction.

Keys died in 2014 from liver cancer. He was 70 years old.
