Q: What inspired you to write this novel?
A: I was inspired to write this novel by my own experiences growing up as a black girl in the South. I wanted to explore the complexities of race, identity, and belonging through the eyes of four black girls.

A: I hope readers will take away a better understanding of the challenges that black girls face in America. I also hope they will be inspired by the girls' strength and resilience.
Q: What are you working on next?
A: I'm currently working on a new novel that follows the four girls as they enter adulthood.
